Isola and Norzi work fourhanded as a collaborative duo, pooling their backgrounds and interests in art history, museum studies and architecture. They create delicate, often visually subtle installations to respond directly to particular environments and every-day objects. They use the site as both canvas and medium, responding to architectural context and modifying common-use objects. Their installations might be seen as interventions into the gallery or studio space through poetic, minimal gestures, taking the idea of sculpture dematerialization to a different level. Two points of view aim at transforming the work into an evocative commentary where both presence and absence redefine spaces. ‘Time erosion’ and ‘space taming’ are the conceptual terms and formal instruments they utilize in order to lead viewers towards a broader reflection on trespassing, destination, and purpose.

Both Italian born in 1976, they have exhibited throughout Italy, Europe and in New York. Hilario Isola attended Torino Literature and Philosophy University; Matteo Norzi attended Torino Polytechnic College.
