Materials, objects and spaces, and their fetishization, are what I’m investigating. I define fetish as "an object created by man to gain power over the other." The lining or skin of a room has a certain symbolism and intent. Expensive, hard, glossy materials in office buildings are used to impress employees and encourage them to work harder. Soft materials feel comfortable and encourage users to slow down. A sense of longing for decadence and elevated status is a recurrent element in my work. By making interventions in rooms, I aim to shift these spaces' original intentions. New illusory depths appear in my images through color, gloss and texture. I thereby make work that questions spaces. This work is monumental and straightforward, yet full of illusions. I work in photography, installation and video, and seek a dialogue between the different media and realities.
