I investigate systems of representation to understand and challenge the process by which images become icons or events become history. I rigorously explore the backgrounds of subjects as varied as the the Polish artist Edward Krasinski, the MGM lion, urban development in the city of Bangalore, India, and the Viennese philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein. Through different mediums including photography, video, and sculpture, I grant these subjects renewed consideration, often in altogether new forms. Through this process I hope to establish the possibility for new ways of interpreting and understanding established archives.
