On Thursday, September 10 at 7 pm, Smack Mellon will host Cinema 16 as part of the gallery's Press Play concert series held in conjunction with the DUMBO First Thursdays Gallery Walk.

Cinema 16 recreates the experience of the silent film era, as curator Molly Surno programs obscure vintage films and pairs them with contemporary New York musicians. Bands are given one month to compose a musical score in order to modernize the tradition of live music accompanying films during the 1920s. For this incarnation of Cinema 16, A FERMATA scores films by Joseph Cornell, Mark Street and Kihachiro Kawamoto.
