This exhibition presents the work of 23 students who participated in the 2011-2012 session of Art Ready. Working one-on-one with professional painters, architects, installation artists, jewelry and fashion designers, graphic designers, video artists, and photographers, the student artists created an impressive range of work in a variety of media. This includes: digitally-manipulated self-portrait photos; videos addressing themes of identity and community; articles of clothing made with recycled materials; and paintings, drawings, and animations of both still lives from nature and characters from the imagination. Two students worked with a jewelry designer to create original necklaces, two collaborated with professional architects on an installation made entirely of paper cups, and another pair worked with commercial graphic designers on their own teen magazine.
