Brian Hudson Huang

Artist Website

Brian Hudson Huang is a multimedia artist and filmmaker from Brooklyn, New York. Obsessed with the role of the image, he employs video, photography, and digital media to examine visual, optical, and aesthetic ephemera generated as byproduct of knowledge-making systems rather than as final output. Intentionally didactic, his work treats such ephemera as an unintended visual language, constructing an aesthetic understanding of these systems. By reconciling the supposed neutrality of knowledge-making systems with the personal and subjective, he reveals the hidden sociopolitical mechanisms they attempt to hide or propagate. He is a recipient of the Vincent J. Mielcarek, Jr. Memorial Fund Prize (2018) for photography and earned a BFA from The Cooper Union in 2019.
