Gabino A. Castelán

Artist Website

My installations are relational objects comprised of murals, sculptures, and curated social situations. I transform vacant spaces into socio-spatial paradigms. Visually, my work attempts to channel the spirit of a place with structured harmony for the mind to rest and organize itself. I invite skilled-creative workers to share what they love to do as an act of reimagining labor and leisure. My artistic actions in part come from my childhood experience of illegally immigrating across the Mexican-American border and legally becoming a citizen to respond to the politics of space and authority in a capitalist-driven society.
