Woomin Kim is Korean artist currently based in Queens, NY. Through her textile works, Kim describes everyday scenery of Queens and Korea, the two places she calls home. By making scenes of daily life such as market place, her friends and family’s home, street view, etc., she offers new narratives of urban landscapes that feel personal and precious to herself.
Kim has participated in exhibitions and residencies at the RISD Museum, Queens Museum, Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Moody Center for the Arts and Art Omi. Kim has received fellowships and awards from the Joan Mitchell Foundation, Noguchi Museum and Bronx Museum. Her works have been featured in The New York Times, Hyperallergic and BOMB Magazine. Kim received B.F.A from Seoul National University and M.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
