Yumiko Ono

Artist Website

Yumiko Ono completed her BA in Kyoto Seika University  in 2005. Since her BA, Ono studied in Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design and studied in Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and completed an MA  in Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design and second MA honors in Stieglitz State Academy of Arts and Design. All of which were funded by the governments of each country as well as the Ministry of Culture of Japan.  Additionally, Ono has participated in residency programs world widely such as John Michael Kohler Arts Center, MASS MoCA , ISCP,  Franconia Sculpture Park,  Retreat, BANFF Centre for Arts and Creativity, Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Taipei Artist Village, Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, Paradise AIR, Hisai Ars Plaza, C.A.P. , Gyeonggi Creation Center, CCI Fabrika, St. Petersburg Art Residency, RSJ, Meet Factory and At Home Gallery Residency. Ono was also awarded Franconia Sculpture Park Fellowship as well as grants from Yoshino Gypsum Art Foundation, Asahi Shimbun Foundation and was selected as a finalist of CAF award. 

Regarding her exhibition experience, she has done a number of exhibitions internationally. She has shown her work in private and national galleries such as her solo show “Epitomes” at MoCA Taipei, “Organic Matter” at Diem Phung Thi Museum, “Utopia” at Slag Gallery, NYC, “Unbuilt” at ARTHAUS, Moscow, group show“Domani” at The National Art Center in Tokyo, “Utopia on the Brink of an Abyss” at National Gallery in Prague, as well as a number of international art festivals and symposiums such as BIWAKO Biennale, Taehwa River Eco Art Festival, International Creative Laboratory Bashnya, International Art Symposium Elements Cuisine, Kyoto Sento Art Festival. Her work is in the collections such as John Michael Kohler Arts Center,  Yelabuga State Art Museum and Imperial Porcelain Factory.
